Offered here is a solid 4/4 Violin from 1910 which bears a faux Strad label. The back measures 14 1/4 inches, a German measurement. This violin has no real problems at all meaning NO CRACKS! There are the usual scuffs and scrapes to the varnish one would expect from a violin this age. The violin came to me with old strings on it. Even so...the sound is pretty robust and solo like. New strings would make the sound fantastic! The violin has excellent construction. The wood is excellent fi...ne grain spruce on the table (top) and choice flamed maple on the ribs, back, neck. The scroll has lovely hand carving on the back. The pegs are a little sticky and graphite or peg dope is recommended. I estimate the violin was made in or around 1910 in Mittenwald Germany. Violin shops in the USA might retail this violin for more than $1, 500. Look up Christopher Reutinger on Google to know your seller. I have appraised violins for State Farm for over 45 years and this violin is really worth $1, 500. The violin is sold as is and as pictured. The violin comes WITHOUT BOW. It will be shipped in a new case (a $30. value) securely by USPS Ground unless you need it sooner. What you see is what you get. Be sure before you bid and ask questions. This auction is meant for the USA only. Overseas shipping is available for an extra $80.
