Shown here for your bidding consideration is a nice companion piece to the boy I have in a separate listing is this vintage, all cloth Erna Meyer dollhouse girl in her original clothes! Erna Meyer began making her Ermey dolls in 1945. This is an early example with the cloth shoes and cardboard soles, dating to the 1940’s or 50’s. Later examples have plastic shoes. So popular are the dolls that they are still being made today. In my opinion, the modern examples don’t quite have th...e same charm as the early dolls. Standing 5” tall, the doll has a body with a wire armature underneath the flesh toned stockinette covering. Her molded cloth face has delicate hand painted features. Her head is topped with a blond wig with a braided plait across the crown, peeking out from beneath her red polka dot scarf. Her red, white and blue outfit is nicely detailed and trimmed in tiny rick-rack. The blue felt bodice has a white lace collar. The blue felt matches exactly the felt used on the boy doll’s hat, that is shown in the last half of the pictures. The pair likely are companions from the same studio identified on the bottom of the boy’s cardboard stand, pictured. You can see glue residue where the girl was once adhered to a stand. I don’t know anything about the Mona Dobra Studio, but I’m sure it is an atelier that I would have loved! The Ermey boy shown in the last half of the pictures along with some other dollhouse items are not included here, but can be seen in separate listings.
