This is a stylish ink and watercolor drawing of a fashionable young woman in a long dress leaning to examine a portfolio of prints or drawings. It was painted by the American painter Albert Sterner (1863-1946), a painter, printmaker and illustrator born in London. His illustrations were featured in Century Magazine, Harpers and Life. His specialty was portraits but there are many of his works of fashionable women. This drawing is signed lower right:"Albert Sterner/ 1904". The ink and w...atercolor is on thin paper attached to a thin board. 12 5/8" tall (13 on board) x 9 1/4" (9 3/8" on board). There are small losses to the right hand margin. Unframed.
