We are listing today a great Antique early to mid 19th C. Stoneware Salt Glazed Flower Decorated Ovoid 3 Gallon James River Richmond Virginia Crock Attributed to J.P. Schermerhorn. This crock is in Excellent Condition with some old smooth chips to the top outer rim. Some nicks and roughness around the outer base rim, no other chips, cracks, or repairs. There is some slight manufactured roughness and light white staining in areas, drips on the outside more on the insid...e, there is a small rock within the clay on the one side, from the firing, a couple small surface flakes to the body. You can refer to the pictures we guarantee 100% you will be more than happy with the excellent condition, The crock measures 14" tall x 6 1/2" at the top rim x 11" wide x 7 1/4" at the base and weighs approximately 14lb 12oz. The crock has a great early ovoid form with hand tooled top rim and applied thick handles. Great hand decorated cobalt blue flower decorations border the top shoulder and at the handles.
