A beautiful example of Waymon Cole's early work at J. B. Cole Pottery. This 7" vase is found in the J. B. Cole catalog as Waymon Cole's shape # W 16 (7"). The glaze is a pale creamy yellow and is as smooth as silk. Subtle bands formed by the potter's fingers ring the bulbous base, setting it off nicely from the smooth, cylindrical neck. The handles speak for themselves -- and are drawn from ancient Asian pottery forms first included on Seagrove-area pottery by Jugtown Pottery. There is... a very tiny glaze pop from firing near the base. Otherwise, this piece has no chips, cracks, or repairs and looks just as it did fresh from the kiln. The base is unglazed.
