Model 1860 US Naval Cutlass, with original scabbard andfrog. In very good to excellentcondition. Blade is 26 inches long, tipintact, bright metal with scattered dark spots (no more than 5% of thesurface), numerous minor nicks along the edge, and still has its originalleather washer at the throat. Gripretains about 90% of its original leather wrap. Brass grip has one very minor dent. Scabbard is completely intact, all seams and rivets strong, about 60-70%of i...ts original black surface remains. Frog is completely intact, all seams andrivets strong, about 90% of its original black surface remains.
Sword is well marked. About 80% of the Ames logo remains on the blade ricasso, which is alsomarked “U.S.N. / D.R. / 1863”. The topof the pommel is marked “D.R.”. The topof the guard is marked “”25M / 667”. Selling at no reserve withlow opening bid.
