This clock does not have a Virginia Metalcrafters hallmark, however it was sold exclusively in their 1997 “In the Garden” catalog (please see photos of excerpt). The catalog description reads: “8206 Skeleton Clock - 12 1/2” tall. Solid cherry. The exposed clock has a 14-day, key-wind movement with an hourly bell strike. Four sided glass ‘shade’ allows for viewing from all sides. The first Skeleton Clocks were through to have been developed in mid-18th-century France. The name ‘skeleton’ came from the clock’s visible movements. Decorative fretwork plates were often added front and back to enhance the otherwise mechanical clock movements.”
