19th c. transferware child’s handcoloredplate over dark brown, Poor Richard’s Maxims series. Most ofthese child-sized plates and cup plates were products of mid-century potteriesduring the heyday of scenic transferware. The coloring is quite crude andhurried, but many of the pottery workers who did decorating were children oradolescents and little defects were common in the press for productivity.
