I have recently been selling many sets of sawsfrom my collection in fine condition to woodworkers who have emailed me withcompliments on the quality of the saws and their smooth quick sawing action.See my feedback for more testimonies of buyer satisfaction.I havecollected handsaws for over 25 years and have enjoyed learning the history ofthis industry. I have always worked with hand tools and was fortunate to teachwoodworking for 30 years after my six years in the military. It was during thistime that I realized the best way to get quality tools for my students was torecondition vintage tools. Having learned saw sharpening from my Japanesewoodworking instructor at the University of Hawaii during the late 1970’s, Iwas able to cheaply supply my students with vintage quality saws to use inclass. I am not a professional sawdoctor but have spent the last 30 years as a shop teacher and had to sharpenall my shop saws and other tools over the years. Those kids knew how to dull asaw and often I had to keep them after school for an hour when I saw themabusing a saw. That way they came to realize what I went thru to get a saw inperfect working order. This consists ofjointing the saw to get it straight, shaping and sharpening, re-jointing andre-sharpening, gently setting the teeth to get a smooth sawing action in thekerf, then final sharpening. Finally I lightly hone the edge with a fine stoneand polish the blade- before testing the smoothness of the cut.
