Original 1918 lithograph supporting the United States Shipping Board and the Emergency Fleet Corporation, both created in 1916 and 1917, respectively, in order to transport men and materials across the Atlantic for the First World War. Image features an impressive view of a naval construction site. Artist is Jonas Lie, a Norwegian-born painter at the age of 12 who came to New York and spent the rest of his life in the US. He is best remembered as a painter of ...both urban and rural landscapes, especially the New England coastline and New York City. This image uses a similar perspective. Poster dimensions are 30 x 40 inches. Newly linen backed (10 oz cotton canvas + 100 lb cotton paper) and acid-neutralized. Excellent condition; no fold lines; strong colors; no missing paper.
