Vintage 1950’s ROYAL Quiet De Luxe Portable TYPEWRITER in Case Offered is a vintage 1950’s Royal Quite De Luxe portable typewriter still clipped into its case. It is in good used condition. The typewriter works but will need a new ribbon, cleaning and oiling. It has been sitting for many years.Several keys stick (most notably the ½ ) and most likely they all need cleaning and lubrication. Caked oil and dust are visible everywhere. The latches for s...ecuring the typewriter to the case seem to be working properly. The case is very dusty, stained, scratched and scuffed, but is in reasonably ok shape showing the wear and tear of 69 years. With effort the case will latch closed. It also probably needs a lubrication. I think the color of the case was once a yellow tan, but now it’s so stained and dirty, it’s hard to know for sure. I found a key that works on the case lock. I'm not sure if it is the original key or not.The typewriter and keys are dark and light gray. The interior of the case is red The deco style chrome winged shapes on the front that frame the ribbon reverse lever and ribbon color change lever were used from 1950 until about 1953. That is the clearest way I can give an approximate date to the typewriterI think the typewriter was made in 1951. There were several numbers on the interior of the cover. I’m not sure which is the correct serial number, but the last one fell within the numbers used in 1951. The others were all smaller.
