FLEMISH SCHOOL 17thC - PEASANTS NEAR A FARMHOUSE - INK DRAWING MONOGR. TENIERS
Item History & Price
The drawing, executed in pen, ink and grey wash on laid watermarked paper, depicts an animated landscape, showing two peasants and a dog near an old farmhouse. The two men are conversating with the lady of the house. Left, a man seems to be going to a field, carrying his hayfork. The horizon shows birds, flying over a village church.
Authorship : the drawing is from th...e Flemish School, monogrammed left below "DT". This could be the monogram of David Teniers the Younger. Further research, however, should be done to bring clearness to the matter of authorship (we think giving the authorship to Teniers is defendable).
