Small late 19th century sampler by E.Morrison - 1882. Worked in blue wool on soft gauze, this little sampler is completely charming with neat stitch work throughout. The field of the linen is stitched with the following biblical quotation with E.Morrison's name and the date of 1882 to finish

The gauze has overall discolouration consistent with its age and the blue of the wool is good, albeit not quite as vibrant as when this piece was originally made. The last photo is if the reverse of the sampler and indicates how the colour would have looked when it was first stitched.Measures 8 1/4" x 10 1/2"
