Up for sale is a classic, genuine Montblanc fountain pen MONTBLANC No. 22fountain penBlack Resin & Gold Filled Trimc. 1959-1960s DescriptionThis Montblanc No. 22 Pen dates to late1950s/early 1960s and the design of the 2x line was the hallmark of Montblanc engineering at that time. The 2x line proved so popular that it was re-launched in 1990s as GENERATION line and currently - as CRUISE collection which are the mode...rn incarnation of these vintage models.Perhaps the coolest thing about the 2x line is their timeless, strikingly modern appearance and excellent engineering. The pen has a slip-on cap with a mechanism based on clutch/ring and it is extremely cool - when the pen is capped, it makes no sound and the mechanism holds the cap securely in place. Also, the barrel has a grey, semi-transparent ink-view section that shows when to refill. This Montblanc design inspired many big names such to produce Montblanc 2x inspired pens in 1970s: Waterman launched the Concord, Namiki - some Pilot Custom models and Kaweco also made a few pens that bear a striking resemblance to some 60s Montblanc pens. This model was produced in Black, Burgundy, Grey and Green (the British Racing Green colour). The colour versions are very uncommon, since black was the most popular and not many colour variants were made. ImprintsThe lower cap ring is stamped:MONTBLANC - No. 22 The cap top of the pen and its filler knob have the white inlaid Montblanc snowflake logo.Item conditionDecent vintage condition/user grade - the pen has seen quite a bit of use; the cap and barrel have repaired stress marks; not affecting the functionality but by no means is this a mint pen - please see photos; the pen fills and writes as it should but us not perfect (ironically, I have always found those less perfect pens perfect for daily use and used them the most- no need to be afraid to trash them!) This is a genuine Montblanc article (I don't collect fake pens). Filling systemThe pen uses a piston filler. Just unscrew the piston knob, dip the nib in ink bottle, screw the piston back down, wipe the point with soft tissue and the pen's ready to write.NibThe pen has a 14k solid gold Fine firm nib that is a very nice, smooth writer.
