This is a Japanese WWll Army officer`s sword in mountings. The blade is signed "Noshu Seki ju Kanetoshi saku 濃州関住兼俊作", shinogi-zukuri shape, before WWll time period ca.1940 era made blade. Kanetoshi`s real name is Murayama Kinoichi, born in 1903, lived in Seki city, Gifu prefecture, made swords during WWll time and after the war as a Gendai smith, listed in John Slough's book page 70. &...nbsp; The blade is traditional hand forged, in old polish, shows fine scratches but no rust and in good condition. The temper line is wavy gunome-choji temper and has omaru temper at the point. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is heavy metal scabbard, no dent, no bend and in near mint condition. The handle is tight fit with silver family mon, tsuka-ito wrapping is no cut, no loose also in near mint condition. Lock mechanism works fine. Tsuba, seppa and lock pin are matched number 4 stamped. It came with blue/brown lieutenant grade sword tassel, no cut, no fade and in good condition. It measures 28+7/8" tip to the guard, 27+7/8" cutting edge, 1+1/4" width, 7.5 mm thickness at the notch and 41+3/4" in mountings.
