This is a Japanese WWll Army officer`s sword in mountings. The blade is signed "Noshu Seki ju Yoshimits saku 濃州関住義光作" with 関 inspection stamp, dated "Showa Jushichi-nen (1942) 昭和十七年", shinogi-zukuri shape, WWll time period made blade. Yoshimitsu lived in Seki city, Gifu prefecture, made swords during WWll and after the war as a Gendai smith. The blade is traditional hand ...forged, in original war time polish, no rust no stain and in excellent condition. The temper line is wavy kochoji with konie active temper pattern and has deep temper at the point. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is metal scabbard, no dent, no bend, no lacquer loss and in excellent condition. The handle is tight fit, tsuka-ito wrapping no cut, no loose and in good condition. Tsuba and seppa are matched number 5 stamped. Lock mechanism works fine. It came with blue/brown lieutenant grade sword tassel, no cut, no fade and in excellent condition. It measures 27+5/8" tip to the guard, 26+1/2" cutting edge, 1+3/16" width, 6.5 mm thickness at the notch and 39+3/4" in mountings.
