Offered here from a San Francisco, California estate collection is an excellent circa 1830s silk and chenille pictorial needlework embroidery on linen and wool of two young lovers hand in hand. Each of the figures with nicely rendered face and hands ink on paper. The young man carrying a bird in cage. The embroidery in its original parcel gilt and ebonized gesso frame with original blown glazing (can see air bubbles and slight waviness overall). I would be doubtful if this picture has ...ever been out of the frame.
