This is a Japanese WWll Army officer`s sword in mountings. The blade is signed "Kunimitsu 国光", shinogi-zukuri shape, WWll time period ca.1940 era made blade. The blade is traditional hand forged, in old polish, no rust no stain and in excellent condition. The temper line is wide gunome-choji with konie active temper pattern and has deep temper at the ...point. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is ishimeji (sand) finish lacquered wood scabbard, shows tiny lacquer loss but no dent, no bend, no crack and in good condition. The handle is tight fit, tsuka-ito wrapping no cut, no loose and in good condition. Lock mechanism works fine. It measures 27+1/8" tip to the guard, 26+1/8" cutting edge, 1+3/16" width, 6.5 mm thickness at the notch and 38+1/2" in mountings.
