This is a Japanese WWll Army officer`s sword in mountings. The blade is signed "Noshu ju Kanetoshi saku 濃州住兼俊作" with 昭 inspection stamp, shinogi-zukuri shape, WWll time period ca. 1940 era made blade. Kanetoshi`s real name is Murayama Kinoichi, lborn in 1903, lived in Seki city, Gifu prefecture, made swords during WWll time and after the war as a Gendai smith, listed in John Slough's book page 70. &...nbsp; The blade is traditional hand forged, in original war time polish, no rust, no stain and in near mint condition. The temper line is wavy gunome-choji with sanbonsugi temper and has omaru temper at the point. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is heavy metal scabbard, no lacquer loss, no dent, no bend and in mint condition. The handle is tight fit, tsuka-ito wrapping is no cut, no loose also in mint condition. Lock mechanism works fine. Tsuba, seppa and lock pin are matched number カ9 stamped. It came with blue/brown lieutenant grade sword tassel, no cut and in good condition. It measures 27+5/8" tip to the guard, 26+7/8" cutting edge, 1+3/16" width, 7.5 mm thickness at the notch and 39+7/8" in mountings.
