This is a Japanese WWll Army officer`s sword in mountings. The blade is unsigned, shinogi-zukuri shape, WWll time period ca. 1940 era arsenal made blade. The blade is in original polish, shows fine scratches but no rust, no stain and in good condition. The temper line is chusuguha temper pattern and has deep temper at the point. There is no be...nd, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. It is mounted in type 98 mountings, the scabbard is glossy lacquered heavy metal scabbard, no dent, no bend, no lacquer loss and in good condition. The handle is tight fit, tsuka-ito wrapping shows aged stains but no cut, no loose also ingood condition. Tsuba, seppa and blade has matched number 106 stamped. Lock mechanism works fine. It measures 27+3/4" tip to the guard, 25+7/8" cutting edge, 1+1/8" width, 6.5 mm thickness at the notch and 38+1/2" in mountings.
