For your consideration is this magnificent find, an Ultra RARE (possible one of a kind) Alfred Philippe Crown TRIFARI Signed Jelly Belly Shoe Button Tutti Frutti Rhinestone Encrusted Rhodium Plated Brooch, a Huge 4" Floral Spray with so many unique features it is hard to know where to begin. It looks very much like the Cartier Tutti Frutti designs from the time Alfred Phillipe was working for Cartier before coming to Trifari. I have been collecting vintage costume jew...elry for over 40 years and this is the most unique and intricate Trifari piece I have come across. It is as if Alfred Philippe put all of his design creativity and imagination into this one piece for Trifari. At the top of the brooch, going across the spray, are 7 Jelly Belly Lucite Molded Cabochons, with 5 of them in the Trifari "Shoe Button" design with encrusted rhinestones. But instead of the usual round cabochons, these are molded cabochons with the rhinestones placed in various locations on the 5 molded pieces in beautiful tutti frutti colors. One of these molded cabochons appears to be in the shape of a conch shell. These are the crowning glory to the magnificent design below featuring 3 baguette sprays holding encrusted rhinestones in round and square accented by a variety of Cabochons and Rhinestones, various shapes, in Clear and Colors of Emerald Green, Sapphire & Periwinkle Blues. Again, a look very much like that of Cartier's Tutti Frutti Collection. And, then as if that was not enough, the 3 rows of baguettes in the spray appear to be molded metal in a baguette cut, either as part of the casting mold, or possibly added later with the other stones; it is hard for me to tell. I have never seen this done before by any designer, but it certainly adds another unique layer to this fascinating piece. The brooch measures a huge 4" x 2" and is Rhodium Plated. On the back it is signed Trifari with the Crown over the "T", pre-copyright. It is in very good vintage condition. All stones are present and appear to be original to the piece; they are all sparkling, no dark stones; almost no wear on the metal front or back; it is in beautiful condition. The clasp closes securely on the back. Most of the dark spots you see are shadows from the reflection of the light from my camera. Please see all pictures as they are part of the description. I purchased this piece from a high end antique shop specializing in antique & vintage fine & costume jewelry, and he said it's possible it has been retained by the original recipient all this time, possibly a close descendent of the design team; he also thought it might have been a one of a kind piece by Philippe and his design team.
