A wonderful Georgian period solid gold mourning ring, with black enamelling and set with seed pearls around three sparkling old mine-cut diamonds, it hides its secret: the head hinges open to reveal a good sized rounded, glazed locket compartment. Currently containing a woven hair memento which can be changed out, it’s really well hidden with integrated hinge and normal depth of head. Together with some typical Georgian split shoulders and ribbed band, this is a lovely quality ring t...hat’s not only very attractive indeed but fun and fascinating for its fantastic hidden feature!It dates from around 1820 and is in very good, fully wearable condition throughout, with some wear to the gold of the shoulders, and the surface of a few pearls.
