WWI GERMAN GEW 98 Sniper Mauser Rifle Stock set Complete. Prussian marked Sniper stock with the cut out bolt recess for the turned down bolt. Most German GEW 98 rifles had the straight bolt with no bolt recess but the sniper version had the turned down bolt and the bolt recess cut out milled into the GEW 98 rifle sniper stock at the factory (Please See Photos). See the excellent reference books: The "98 Rifle & Carbine" page 250, 251 & 258 by Dieter Storz and 'The German ...Sniper" page 40 by Peter Senich. This stock is heavily used but is in very good overall condition especially considering it's 100+ years of age and is still very solid and serviceable. The Prussian "FW" for Wilheim II of Prussia is still plainly visible on the right side of the buttstock. The "1920" Weimar government property stamp signifying compliance with the Treaty of Versailles after WWI is on the left side of the butt stock (Please See Photos).This stock set is complete with the front and rear bands, band springs, flat butt plate, handguard, and recoil cross bolt, and the takedown /disassembly device in the buttstock. The hand grasping grooves are cut extra deep witch gives this stock an excellent grip when holding this rifle up to your shoulder in the firing position. The numbers on all the parts are different and mixed and do not match; but all the parts are correct for a WWI German GEW 98 sniper rifle. This stock has the usual heavy dings, dents and scratches expected with a 100+ year old military stock that most likely saw heavy combat in the trenches of WWI. Looks like there was a tac driven into the butt stock at one time (Please See Photos).
