This is a fantastic absolutely beautiful antique English original figured walnut 8 day bell striking longcase regulator clock with all the features you would like to see from a top quality grandfather regulator clock. This is a C1800 longcase regulator clock which is unsigned and all in full working order and all original with dial, movement and case all belonging to each other with the most beautiful lustre painted dial, dead beat escapement, true seconds subsidary
The case has a split arch top design to the sliding removable hood with a hinged glazed door which protects the original painted dial with barley twist pillars to the front corners, the hood also benefits from its original glass and also its original locking mechanism that locks the hood to the case and locks the hood door from opening. The case also has a stunning patina and colour to the walnut which can only be acquired through age with the trunk door having its original lock and working key The figured walnut case has a absolutely beautiful patina and colour to it which can only be acquired through age and looks stunning as i am sure you can see from the pictures. All the decoration looks to be original with only the usual very light age discrepancies that you would expect to see and all adds to its authenticity and history
The clock benefits from its very beautiful original 16.5 x 12 inch arched hand painted and brass dial one of the very best dials i think i have ever seen with roman numerals and original steel hands, to the centre you have the sub seconds dial which reads true seconds with a centric calendar dial and hand which is moved manually and to the corners you have the hand painted lustre luminous figure paintings, the arch has a superb painted scene of a gentleman and lady in a boat on a lake with a dog. The dial is in great original condition with only very minimal age wear. The paintings are like a lustre luminous finish to them like i have never seen the likes of before absolutely superb
The clock benefits from its original high quality brass 8 day bell striking regulator movement with dead beat escapement and true seconds subsidary dials so very accurate time keeper, the movement is of 8 day duration driven by its 2 weights and pendulum, the movement is in full working order keeping time and striking as it should as you can see in the video above The dial does have a central calendar hand and 31 day calendar but this is a manual move one and not linked to the movement so you have to advance it manually
The mechanism comes with a 6 months return to base warranty for extra piece of mind. No matter how well antique clocks have been serviced they will need final adjusting and setting into beat after transport and a professional person is advised and may be required in order to do this so please bear this in mind before bidding
If on the rare occasion you receive a clock that has a problem or does not work after initial set up and adjusting by a professional person then we reserve the right for you to return the mechanism for repair by myself
There will be no refunds if the mechanism needs repair. I reserve the right for the mechanism to be returned to me for repair
I offer a 6 months return to base warranty on all my mechanisms (unless stated not working in description)
In case of a problem after a professional has attempted to set the clock up you can return the mechanism back to me for repair
Please do not take the mechanism to a local clock maker/repairer as this will render the warranty void. All repairs needed to the mechanism will be carried out by myself and not by a 3rd party clock maker/repairer unless agreed by myself beforehand. please contact me in the first instance to arrange return of the mechanism for repair by myself
Shipping the mechanism back to me will be at the buyers cost and i will pay to get the mechanism back to you after repair
All repair costs will be met by myself for 6 months after purchase. If a mechanism is faulty after 6 months then i can offer a repair service for a discounted price but this cost will be met by the buyer if after 6 months of purchase
