Vintage Tin Battery-Operated Schuco 5503 Elektro-Phanomenal Mercedes 190SL, W. Germany, EXiBA lovely vintage tinplate battery-operated No. 5503 Elektro-Phanomenal Mercedes 190SL convertible car with light green body, grey base, red interior, forward and reverse motion, remote steering front wheels, opening bonnet (battery insert)and boot, with the remote steering wheel and wire, made by the Schuco Co. in West Germany in the 1950’s or 60’s.It comes with 3 red and 3 green bollards i...n an original box.The car measures 8.5 inches long by 3.5 wide and 2.5 inches tall, and is in very good to excellent used condition with nice detail and minor playwear, just a bend and crack to the windscreen.The tinplate body is excellent with minor wear and the battery-operated motor works well in both forward and reverse. The steering column mounted gearstick operatesas the On-Off switch (move right for forward, left for reverseand off is in the middle). Pull out the right-hand knob to open the bonnet. I have not tested the remote steeringfunction, but the steering wheel and wire appear to have had little use. The car is fully marked underneathwith “Made in Western Germany” and “Schuco Elektro-Phanomenal 5503”. The car comes with the remote steering wheel, wire and 6bollards (not sure if there were originally more) and a very good original box, also fully marked. A lovely vintage tinplate battery-operated No. 5503 Elektro-
Phanomenal Mercedes 190SL convertible car with light green
body, grey base, red interior, forward and reverse motion,
