19th c. bronze inkwell with two mice clambering around egg, mounted on marble plinth. Theinkwell glass was hidden in the egg; it is not there anymore, and the hingesappear to have been worn enough so that the egg does not close precisely. Themodeling of the mice is reminiscent of the 19th c. French animaliersculptures. The bronze has no foundry or artist marks.
