This wonderful, scarce, vintage, painted tack eyed, open mouth with a unique paint finish, 5 1/2 inches in overall length "Panfish Ice Spear Fishing Decoy" was made by Elman "Bud" Stewart (1912-1999) of Flint Michigan, AKA Michigan's Legendary Lure Maker. Bud was so revered as a fishing lure and fish decoy maker, and also as a folk artisan that a book about his life and creations was written about him while he was still living. Bud's fishing lures and ...fish decoys always had the action and / or paint simulating a crippled, wounded, or dying fish or critter. The circa is 1980's. These scarce bright colored fish attractors by Bud were made to fish in cloudy water at first ice.The condition of this neat fish attractor is excellent with a tight age crack at the lower right side of it's body.
