Very rare and original, 1860's Sixth Plate Ambrotype Photograph of a double armed Civil War Soldier in uniform. This wonderful, Ambrotype Portrait Photo measures approx. 2 5/8" by 3 1/8" and is housed in what appears to be its original, pressed leather covered hard case.
The Ambrotype is a 3/4 length, standing portrait of a Civil War Soldier wearing an enlisted man’s frock coat and forage cap. He stands at attention with his rifle (with bayonet fixed) at h...is right side and there is a large Bowie Knife in his belt.
This wonderful, 1860's Ambrotype Photo is in very good condition. The Ambrotype exhibits sharp focus, strong contrast and rich tonality. There are no significant scratches, surface scuffs, crazing or physical damage of any kind and overall the Image displays nicely. There is some haloing at the matt opening. Please see the scans below for a good indication of the content and condition of this Ambrotype Photograph of a double armed Civil War Soldier.
