A beautiful French white Bavent pottery dog enameled in white with black toe nails and glass eyes.He has great form as he has his left paw raised to shake your hand all while appearing to smile, I believe he may belong to the collie breed?This almost life size dog is a rare and wonderful piece, made around the early 1900s in the small village of Bavent, Normandy, Northern France that is known for thei...r decorative faience animal figures.He is in excellent condition with minor crazing to the glaze, and one small flea bite on the left toe of the raised paw (pictured) and his eyes are good too.He measures a substantial 13 inches tall by 17 1/2 inches long from his back to the tip of his nose.A great decorative conversational piece especially for a French country decor.
