You are viewing a beautiful piece of Novack bronze naked lady bust with tulip table top lamp. It has marble base about 18 in high and it is in excellent condition sign on the bottom of the Bronze is Guschner’s name carved underneath. Therese a sticker that says 165 - 286 on bottom. In my research I found I believe that there was a plaque, said Guschner on the side of the marble base. There is two drill hole or screw holes that held something ther...e. Very rare. Worn aged paint on tulip glass shade. Gustav Gurschner (1873–1970) was an Austrian sculptor active in the decorative arts. In Vienna, and under Valgrin in Paris he studied. His body of work consists primarily of functional objects such as ashtrays, electric lamps, door knockers, and doorknobs, as well as some jewelry. Gurschner's style was influenced by the sinuous lines of Art nouveau and the symmetry of the Wiener Werkstätte. He worked in wood and bronze, bringing a wood-carver's sensibility to his bronzes. In the early 20th century, his work was imported to New York City galleries, as he was considered a significant Viennese artist. Today, Gurschner's work can be found in the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, Corning Museum of Glass, and the Petit Palais. I buy all my items at auctions and estate sales.
