Very rare and beautiful, ca1890’s Native American Sioux Indian Bead Decorated Buffalo Hide Teepee Bag. This original, late 19th century Sioux Beaded Hide Teepee Bag measures approx. 20" by 15 1/2" and features outstanding bead decoration.
This wonderful, Sioux Indian Tepee Bag is sinew sewn by hand with beadwork decoration on the front panel featuring translucent red, translucent amber, translucent green, translucent blue and translucent white trade beads. ...The closure flap features beadwork decoration using red white-heart, greasy yellow, translucent blue, translucent white and turquoise colored beads along with tin cone drops and horsehair tufts. The side panels of this stunningly beautiful Tepee Bag features beadwork decoration using red white-heart, greasy yellow, chalk white, pink, translucent green and turquoise colored beads along with tin cone drops. This wonderful Bag is amazingly well preserved with no damage, significant wear and no repairs of any kind.
The Tipi Bag offered here is unconditionally guaranteed original and of the period. It is NOT a reproduction or modern recreation but an original Sioux Tipi / Possible Bag crafted in the third quarter of the 19th century. This very rare and original, ca1890’s Sioux Bead Decorated Hide Tipi Bag is in very good to excellent condition. As stated above, there is no damage or repairs of any kind to the hide elements of this outstanding Sioux Tepee Bag. The bag has extensive beadwork decoration and there is less than a handful of beads that are lost on any of the surfaces (we can honestly see only 2 beads that are missing). There is a single tin cone drop missing from the closure flap and two tin cones missing from the left hand side panel. The tin cone drops generally lack whatever horsehair or rawhide tufts if there were originally any. Overall, this outstanding 19th century Tepee Bag is exceptionally well preserved and displays beautifully!!
All elements of the Teepee Bag are original and there has been no repairs or restorations.
