FINE ANTIQUE 18/19C GEORGIAN SILVER MOUNTED SAILOR CHIP CARVED COCONUT CUP TREEN
I will be selling a good number of interesting antiques including Tribal art, Chinese and European antiques. PLEASE NOTE: This auction is in GB Pounds Sterling. This is a very fine antique Georgian carved coconut cup with silver mount and silver 'hoof' feet. It was likely brought back and po...ssibly even carved by a sailor whilst in some exotic location and would have been silver mounted on its return ready as a gift or for a cabinet of curiosities. It is one of several carved coconut examples I am selling this week and it is offered at a very low start price and with no reserve. It is my policy not to end standard auctions early with a 'buy it now' and at the end of an auction I will not make second chance offers. Please read down the entire listing for Dimensions, Condition, Postage & Payment Details - most of the information you will need is here on this page but please get in touch if you don't find what you are looking for. Condition & Dimensions
Very good overall condition. Some staining to the coconut but no splits in the shell. A small split in the silver in one place. It stands about 10cms tall.
Postage & Packing
For your peace of mind and mine items will be sent fully insured. I will be posting from WEDNESDAY 9th OCTOBER so please make payment as early as possible, ideally within 3 working days. PLEASE be a little patient with the post - I will get them posted asap but I work on my own, have a large amount to post and I do pack carefully. I also post in the order that things are paid for. My items are located in Belgium but I return to the UK after each set of Ebay sales on business trips and post the majority from the UK. It seems complicated but it makes sense and the Royal Mail and Parcelforce have always worked pretty well for me!Any delays by the postal services either at my end or abroad are rarely my fault. I always post out at the latest 3 working days after receiving cleared payment but sometimes an item is slowed up by a backlog of post or delayed whilst being processed through customs. To give you an idea it generally takes about 3-7 working days within Europe and 7 - 14 working days to the U.S. / rest of the world. If speed is of the essence then I can use a courier (Parcelforce) but prices for couriers start at around £30 / £40GBP for the very smallest object and VERY quickly escalate depending on size, weight and destination. I add on very little, often not enough to cover the packaging materials, so the price I quote really is as fair as possible.
