Rare Locality BISMUTITE W BISMUTHINITE - - Bigger Mica Mine, Fenders, Colorado
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:20216526 |
The Bigger Mica mine was last worked in the late 1930s for scrap mica and is a relatively obscure locality. I fo...und one report online that mentioned the presence of large beryl crystal sections present on the dumps---as much as two tons were estimated to be present. Bismuth minerals are sometimes found as pods within pegmatites---these are easily mined out and either processed or discarded. This is a rich, solid and pleasantly colored mass of bismutite from a very obscure locality!
