Produced by Willie Dixon (who can intermittently beheard as a duet partner), the set is one of the strongest representations ofthe belter's Chess days available, with her immortal smash "Wang DangDoodle, " and the chunky "Twenty-Nine Ways, " "I'm a LittleMixed Up, " and "Don't Mess with the Messer." Top-flight sessionmusicians on Taylor's 1965-1969 output included guitarists Buddy Guy, Matt Murphy, and Johnny Shines and saxman Gene "Daddy G" Barge. For most part, the vinyl looks impeccable, without anyMAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, andthe vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new. (b) The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, whichwas usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound onsuch thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do notexpect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording! (c) White Promo Label version of this title is much rarer that a regular, commercially released, version of this title. We estimate that stock copies ofthis album outnumber promo copies by a ratio of at least 10:1. (d) Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!! · THE COVER THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT VERY GOOD++ (VG++). The following flaws orimperfections are noted on the cover: - Cover has a neat, round PROMO cutout hole in one of thecorners - Front cover has a small, rectangular, sticker residue (smallyellowish discoloration from the removed price sticker) - Back cover has a visible "glass bottom" stain(about 1 square inch in size, total) - Front cover has a few yellowish dust speckles scattered hereand there (these tiny spots are not overly obtrusive or distracting) - Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On thescale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 3 - Back cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record), probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other coversduring the storage.
