Made in Germany 1937-42. These model 236 are VERY rare pens. They have the highly sought after metal Telescopic piston the same as used in model 136. Indeed these 236 are almost the exact same pen as a model 136. The Barrel is the exa...ct same as is the piston and piston housing. The front section and nib assembly are also the same. These parts interchange with model 136 (they fit each other) as do the caps. The differences are the nib on a 236 was normally steel or a grade 2 nib. However this pen has a grade 1 size 6 nib fitted from a 126. The beautiful Orange Amber see through Ink Window on a 236 is without lines and the 136 window has lines. The Cap of a 236 has the Montblanc Mountain logo imprint down its side and the 136 had Montblanc Meisterstuck imprint or No imprint on the Cap. Finally the Bland Cap (Tail End) on a 236 unscrews off to reveal the Piston turning Knob whereas the 136 Blind Cap is the turning knob and does not unscrew off. The 236 and the 136 are the EXACT same Length and Width as each other. The 236 was made in VERY limited numbers and so is MUCH rarer than ANY 136. These 236 are amongst the highest quality pens Montblanc made in 1930-40s. Full Celluloid Barrel and Caps. BHR (Black Hard Rubber) Front Section and Piston Housing/Blind Cap etc. This example is as clean as you will EVER see. Zero Splits, Cracks or Repairs etc. Anywhere....!
The 14C model 235 (it has 14C and 235 imprint at its base inside the front section. ONLY models 126, 106 and 136 Meisterstuck pens from 1935 to 1939 had model 235 14C nibs.) The 14C Oblique FULL Flex nib this pen has fitted actually comes off a 1st issue 126 pen I have that has a cracked Barrel. Make no mistake this Nib is the HIGHEST possible upgrade a 236 can have. The 4810 nib this pen has is a Masterpiece or Meisterstuck 1st line premium nib that was UNIQUE to 1935-36 models 126 & 106. By 1936 the 235 model nibs were made 2 tone. This 1st issue 235 nib was made single tone, by 1939 they were Steel. To find a 235 single tone 1st issue nib still PERFECT and ALL original is beyond rare. The nib this 236 originally came fitted with was made of steel as with MOST wartime Montblanc pens. Steel nibs corrode with age and often pop off their Iridium tips, I will include this pens original Steel nib with the sale. But it can not even remotely compete with the 14C nib it now has fitted. Indeed I would say this ULTRA rare 14C 235 4810 nib is perhaps the most flexible and creative vintage Montblanc nib I have used in MANY a year. Sublime writer full of creativity and personality.
This wonderful 14C Nib is a TRUE Flat Tip for Italic Cursive style writing. It writes with a Bold Confident Broad line Down Stroke and yet has a Fine to Extra Fine line Side Stroke. Makes for very handsome writing indeed at normal pressure. Montblanc simply DO NOT make nibs of this quality ANYMORE not since 1920 to early 1950s. Nowadays Montblanc Nibs have a Ball of Iridium tip. They CAN NOT write like this nib can. This nib comes from Montblancs GOLDEN age of Nib design. This nib is PERFECT for signature also. I call it my John Hancock... However as beautiful as this pen is to write with at normal pressure it really comes alive the moment you exercise its phenomenal flexibility. It can flex all the way past Triple Broad on the downstroke when varying levels of pressure is applied. WOW! nibs simply do not get any better than this. ULTRA creative. A nib for the TRUE writing Connoisseur. The feed is ORIGINAL to the Nib from my 126. So it fits PERFECT and has beyond AMAZING levels of Ink Flow ability. This feed NEVER skipped a beat during its writing sample and I pushed it to the MAX phenomenal ink flow. Grade A+++++++++++ Feed. The 126 Nib and Feed are the EXACT same size as the 236 Nib and feed and so interchange with perfection. The Telescopic piston has just been serviced with New Cork and works as when New. Fills to the MAX every time with zero issues. VERY rare to find such a perfect piston that works like the day it left the factory. Beautiful example of an historic WW2 era Montblanc. This ones worth breaking the bank for. You might never see another working example this clean again. You will certainly never see another 236 with a Nib upgrade of this quality again. Bespoke pen for a writing connoisseur. …..!
