Looking for the perfect vintage amp for your vintage Mullard EL34 tubes?
For auction: Beam Echo DL7-35 amplifiers, pair, refreshed and back up to original Mullard 5-20 specification. The restoration was conducted by AmpRegen in Oxford, UK and the amps are super clean with all original, deep indigo 'hammertone' paintwork. Very beautiful.
Close in serial number - H10300 and H10231.

Unbelievably rare and almo...st never seen for sale in this condition. According to Graeme at Amp Regen, these are better sounding than Leak TL12 Point Ones and much rarer. Here's a once in a lifetime chance to own this legendary pair of vintage amplifiers, with a low reserve, just before the holidays!
As far as possible, original, tested NOS replacement parts have been used, unless unavailable. This includes, for example, items such as
NOS TCC capacitorsHigh-stability resistors by Erie ceramic type 108Mullard mustard capacitors where appropriateand more.
Where needed, modern replacements have been used (for example, finding *reliable* working examples of Standee R18 resistors is nigh impossible). The originals have been left for visual appearances but supplanted underneath for safe operation. One of the shrouds has a small mark, as shown in the pictures.
Like Partridge, Gresham Transformers or Hanworth in the UK were suppliers to the Ministry of Defence in the UK last century. Their quality is second to none and they are fabulous built pieces of iron.

"The volume controls are present but disconnected (replaced in each amp by a modern low-noise fixed resistor). They might be OK, but old controls quite often go noisy/intermittent and can be tricky to repair/replace."
(This enables ease of use with modern or vintage pre-amplifiers of your choice).
"The amps meet the very demanding specs for hum and noise and for distortion at high power, but only when run with EL34s... Of course people might prefer the sound of the KT77s - that's up to them."
The speaker connectors are simple modern items to facilitate connection of modern speaker cable systems, in place of the former screw terminals. The amps are set for 240V but can be reset for any worldwide voltage by Amp Regen if needed.
Be reassured, these amps sound simply amazing and will show a clean pair of heels to most vintage and modern tubes amps of similar power. Fabulous on vintage Quads and horns. Amazing with BBC and Spendor speakers. You'll likely never see an opportunity like this again.
