This listing offers one of sister's favorite things; hand blown vaseline art glass with a big opalescent ribbon that tints blue in natural light. Both pieces are beautifully crafted with crimped feet and a raspberry prunt, also known as a berry pontil. The size is interesting too - smaller than a pitcher and bowl but larger than a cream and sugar (see pictures). According to several antique reference guides, the raspberry prunt has been attributed to either Thomas Webb... or Stevens & Williams. Despite professional differences of opinion the experts do agree on two things 1) berry pontils point to early English art glass, and 2) berry pontils reflect exceptional quality. Condition is excellent with no damage or repairs - no cracks, chips, rough edges, repairs or other issues. We have carefully examined the ruffled rim and all of the little crimped feet - there are no chips or repairs. This set has been beautifully preserved over the years. Pictures may reflect a few internal bubbles (none are external or broken) and some tiny inclusions commensurate with early, hand blown glass production. As expected, they glow brightly under a black light and/or a camera flash. The last picture may show this set with an art glass vase from the same time period.
