We inherited this from a late relative who was in the antiques industry. The information in the will referred to the piece as an Antique French Gilt Bronze Dresser Box With Napoleon II Style Ornaments that dates to the early 1800s.
The piece is quite beautiful, but its age shows. There is no key. Some ornaments appear loose, and it looks like a piece of one might be missing on the back.
