Vintage DANTE'S INFERNO and PARADISE LOST, Illustrated by Gustave Dore. Both were published by Cassell, Petter, Galpin & Co. No printed date on title page, but they are circa 1870 - 1900.These are full of stunning plates illustrated by Gustav Dore. I believe there are 76 plates just in Inferno.Dante's Inferno is New Edition - with Critical and Explanatroy Notes. Translated by the Rev. Henry Francis Cary, M.A. Cover has separated from the pages. Has shelf wear at corners. Otherwise ...good condition.Milton's Paradise Lost is edited by Robert Vauhhn, D.D. and includes notes and a life of Milton. This volume is also full of gorgeous illustrations. Like Inferno, it has edge wear and a separations between the cover and pagesCovers are embossed in gold and black on a darker brown cover. These are large, heavy books that meaure 13-1/4" high x 10-1/2" wide.
