This is a Japanese WWll Army officer`s sword in type 94 mountings. The blade is signed "Noshu Seki ju Kanetoki kore saku 濃州関住 兼時之作", shinogi-zukuri shape, before WWll time period ca.1936 era made blade. Kantoki`s real name is Kojima Tokijiro, was born in July, 1902 in Seki city, Gifu prefecture, later he changed name to Kanemichi, made swords during WWll time and after the war as a Gendai smith, listed ...in John Slough's book page 46, 47, 48 and rated 2 Million yen. The blade is hand forged, in old polish, shows fine scratches but no rust, no stain and in good condition. The temper line is wavy gunome with konie active temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep temper at the point. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is heavy metal scabbard with original double hanger, no dent, no bend, no lacquer loss and in excellent condition. The handle is tight fit, tsuka-ito wrapping is no cut, no loose and in good condition. Tsuba and seppa are matched number 67 stamped, tsuba is heavy thick pierced early type tsuba. Lock mechanism works fine. It measures 27+1/2" tip to the guard, 26+3/4" cutting edge, 1+3/16" width, 6.5 mm thickness at the notch and 41+1/2" in mountings.
