Just out of a local house is this scarce Galvano bronze clad sculpture bookend. It depicts a nude male sitting on an obelisk like pedestal. The original sculpture was designed by Gorham bronze with Cleo Braken as the artist. They were known to then be made around the early 1920's by the Galvano Bronze Co., a company founded by Paul Mori. One can find a somewhat similar bookend in Kuritzky's Collectors Encyclopedia of Bookends attributed to Pompeian Bronze. This example is the earlier G...alvano issue. Both are considered rare. The figure stands about 10 inches tall, about 2 3/8 inches wide, and about 3 1/2 inches deep. It has a dark green patina and is in good condition. It has some wear and losses to the finish here and there. See photos as they are part of the description. Although originally made as a pair of bookends, the other a woman, this example does very well standing alone as a sculpture. Would make a nice addition to any collection and is guaranteed as described.Calculated shipping is based on ebays shipping calculator.
