I have this fun Victorian era skirt lifter that is an original period piece. These were used for woman to hike up their skirt to keep their dress clean while getting into a carriage, while walking through dirt or mud, and once the bicycle came along they were important pieces of riding bicycles to keep your dress out of the wheels. This particular nickle plated lifter has a Maltese cross, lion, and crown and it is 4 1/4" long, and no makers mark that I can see. Looks to be in great overall condi...tion as shown.
