This is a Japanese WWll Army officer`s sword in mountings. The blade is signed "motte Yasuki ko Kanemichi saku 以安来鋼兼道作", dated "Koki Nisenroppyku-nen (1940) 皇紀二千六百年" with 昭 inspection stamp, shinogi-zukuri shape, WWll time period made blade. Kanemichi`s real name is Kojima Tokijiro, was born in July 1902 in Seki city, Gifu prefecture, made swords during WWll time and after the war as a Gen...dai smith, listed in John Slough`s book page 46, 47, 48 and rated 2 Million yen smith. The blade is hand forged, in old polish, no rust, no stain and in good condition. The temper line is wavy gunome-choji temper and has deep temper at the point. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is sand finish lacquered wood scabbard, no dent, no bend and in good condition. The handle is tight fit, tsuka-ito wrapping is no cut, no loose also in good condition. Lock mechanism works fine. Tsuba and seppa are matched number 638 stamped. It came with blue/brown lieutenant grade sword tassel, shows aged wear but no cut and in decent condition. It measures 27+1/8" tip to the guard, 26+1/4" cutting edge, 1+3/16" width, 6.5 mm thickness at the notch and 41+1/4" in mountings. Shipping is $25 priority in U.S. No international shipping.
