Indian War Era US Army Cavalry Pattern 1885 2nd Type Leather Carbine Boot or Scabbard for the .45-70 Springfield Trapdoor Carbine - Rock Island Arsenal - Original - Excellent Condition Up for Auction is a Indian War Era US Army Cavalry Pattern 1885 2nd Type Leather Carbine Boot or Scabbard for the .45-70 Springfield Trapdoor Carbine. The leather is soft and supple, no cracks or crazing. Som...e very minor wrinkling on the surface of the leather straps. The boot is marked: Rock Island Arsenal. The tips of the straps have inspector initals stamped on them. This is the 2nd type of the Pattern 1855 Boot, it has the lower strap that completely encircles the bottom of the boot. These are very hard to find in any condition. This one is in exceptionally nice condition.
