OBJECT// Antique Chinese museum quality rare gilt bronze Buddha, this marvellous piece of the finest quality depicts a seated Buddha in classic form, truly the best piece i think i have ever sold, his hands and feet are crossed in meditation, the face is superbly chiselled with a serene expression of reflection or contemplation, the piece is completely adorned with intricate detail everywhere one looks, his robes are superbly engraved with floral motifs. The buddha has the most rich lemon mercury gold gilt surface, perfect gilt remaining, we see much of the original blue colour pigment remaining to his crown, the piece has its original base plate finely engraved with a four pointed Vajra (Thunder Bolt) It weighs a very heavy 1690 grams, this is a very fine and important Buddhist spiritual object purchased in Germany from a private collection of three, one sold, this piece and the final one will be listed in the sale after this one, dating from the 18th century, Qing Dynasty object, genuine antique, superb colour and patina, serious collectors object.
