This violin has been freshly restored to performance condition. The wear on the violin is honest and the woods aged for 100+ years. The sound of this violin is consistent with that of the quality German violins of the late 1800's era. The aged Maple and Spruce produce mellow tones unlike the bright sounds produced by most new violins of today. The woods have aged resulting in a deep resonance that is rich in its overall sound.
This is a stunning violin b...oth visually and in sound. The figured Maple back is stunning. The tightly grained aged woods produce a rich voice that is characteristic of these quality early trade era German violins. This instrument is in excellent shape for its age. This violin has had no repairs made to it. In the photograph of the top plate, the dark line to the right of the fingerboard is simply a deep annual ring of the Spruce and not a repaired crack. I consider this violin to be in mint condition for its age. The wear on the violin is honest and free from any cracks or repairs. This violin is setup with a fresh set of Dominant Strings. As violin luthier of over 20 years, I am just now returning to selling here on eBay. I have sold over 200 violins on eBay over the past 5 years.
