This is a great, well used old slate roofingtool. It was used to cut the nails on abad slate on a roof. Hook the nail withone side of the head and pound on the flat part of the bend in front of thehandle until the nail head was cut off, then remove the slate. The flat part shows a lot of flaring frombeing used a lot. It could also be doneby going the other direction with the ripper. It is marked Wm. SEABOLD BANGERPA, which has been obscured by the hammering mark...s from trying to hit the flat part. It is also stamped J.H.S. which would havebeen the original owner’s initials.
