This is for a rare small cast bronze benita/ holy water bucket/stoop. This would have been for personal use. Large versions were used in churches by priests to bless the congregation. You can sometimes see these in early Flemish or Italian paintings hanging from a nail.Cast and lathe turned, the swing handle held by 2 lugs. The interior with limescale deposit from the water.Nice colour and patina. I am estimating this dates mid-late 16th century. I believe this is ...of Flemish or Italian manufacture.Hanging height approx 6.1/4in (16cm).
