Original Oakland shield style enamel radiator badge emblem insignia nameplate. The Oakland was built from 1907 to 1931 in Pontiac, MI and was replaced by the Pontiac. Online research indicates this type of emblem was used from 1929 to 1931 but I do not know exact model or application for this example. Badges like these were made using the champleve or guilloche process of heat bonding melted glass to a copper base which was then plated. 1 9/16" wide by 2 9/16" high, blue..., white and translucent red enamel with gold plating, curved top to bottom to fit on radiator shell. Makers mark "GUS. FOX CO. CIN. O." on back. Good used condition, no dents, bends or cracks, a few minor scratches. There are two areas of enamel chipping, balance of enamel is very nice. Original plating shows wear and patination, mounting stud and locating pin are intact and useable. Great for your collection, use as is on a driver or easily restored.
