This 2 volume complete set is sumptuously bound in full blue straight grained Morocco leather.
The blue leather is ornately decorated in gilt.The spines have 3 raised compartments and 4 lower compartments.The raised compartments are decorated in fine gilt with the titles in gilt on 2 lower compartments on the spine.The boards have outer gilt dentelles within ruled gilt lines.The inner boards have gilt ruled lines with decorated corners.The outer edges of the boards are also tooled in gilt.
The endpaper are covered in pure silk also with gilt decorations to the outer edge.All page edges are covered in gold leaf.Both volumes have the original red silk bookmarks bound in.
Each volume measures approx 9" x 5½".
Vol 1 ~ Has xxiv + 572 pages.
Vol 2 ~ Has viii + 623 pages.

Each volume has an engraved title page + a printed title page.The set is illustrated with a folding map of Spain And Portugal + 2 Engraved frontispieces + Engraved Portrait of Cervantes + a further 15 copper engraved plates descriptive of the text.
There is occasional foxing throughout with offsetting from some of the engravings.Page 298 in vol 2 has a neat repair to the front margin not affecting the text, otherwise, the binding and contents are in very nice, tight, sound, clean condition.
